In 2015, All United Nations Members adopted and agreed to 17 Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).

Looking back, there were no indicators that the COVID-19 Pandemic, Ukraine war, or other crises were on the horizon when they developed these 17 goals. It's important to think beyond crises. It's critical to address the reverse trends.

Highlights of UN 2022 SDGs report:

What are the area to focus and strategies to improve?

These 17 SDSs are associated with 169 targets, However, only 89 targets can be assessed while for the remaining 80, no assessment can be made due to insufficient data. Of course, progress toward these goals differs by location, and trends might shift due to a variety of external factors.

So how can we develop strategy when we don't even have a clear picture? To address any big problem, we must divide it into smaller pieces and focus on each one individually and collectively.

Some areas we all can contribute as individuals, community and organisations.

Strengthening partnerships:

It is critical to develop effective partnerships and coalitions, whether as a public-private collaboration, a civil society organisation, or an individual, in order to bring resources and expertise together to address complex challenges. For example, As an individual, you may plant trees; as a business, you can invest in renewable energy initiatives in poor nations.

It is also possible to progress towards our SDGs by empowering everyone to participate in decision-making process and strengthen local government's capability to deliver services.

Protecting the environment:

Taking basic steps as simple as reduce water consumption to buy environmentally-friendly products or reduce energy consumption, Every small step counts as progress.

Reducing the amount of waste that is generated is another important way for individuals to protect the environment. This can be achieved by reducing consumption, reusing items whenever possible, and recycling.

Changing how we create and use products and services can help to reduce environmental consequences and promote sustainability.

Providing access to essential services:

Many of the SDGs aim to improve access to essential services such as education, health care, clean water, and electricity. Strategies to improve access to these services may include building infrastructure, training and supporting service providers, and implementing policies that promote universal access. This means volunteering in nearby clinics and schools, raising awareness, or working to improve access to essential services in our own communities would be great start.

Sustainable and inclusive economic growth:

Economic growth is an important driver of development, but it must be inclusive and sustainable in order to benefit all members of society.

Investing in education and training, supporting small firms, and encouraging responsible and sustainable production and consumption habits are some strategies for achieving sustainable and equitable economic growth.

It is impossible to change the past. There is no way to predict the future with certainty. We can, however, reshape the future if we choose to do so. It is only through conscious actions that we can create a better future. Let us know what are the steps what steps you are taking to contribute towards UN SDG goals.
